Good morning (here),
I am an electrical foreman with 30+ years exp. I have some education in engineering but not complete. I have been considering moving into planning and detailing. My company uses Revit. Would an accredited certificate program for Autocad be worth the time and money?

Yes. Getting familiar with the shortcuts and small projects in a class environment will be invaluable to you. I took a course in tech school when I was 19, I have used that knowledge a ton. Even just using Sketchup for a home project, the AutoCAD stuff helps immensly.

You don't know what you don't know.

There are all sorts of techniques, short cuts, and tricks that are hard to pickup on your own. If you know how to do it in program A, you can ask what the equivalent procedure is for Program B.

Thanks for the responses. I also got a response from my superintendent saying that our company is actually looking for field personnel to move into these rolls, as many of our detailers do not have the field experience to anticipate conflicts. I am going to look for some courses.
