I just heard that in Plantation Florida the inspectors are not going to except using mud rings for low voltage, (TV, Telephone, Data or Sound) anymore, they told me you have to install a 1 gang enclose box, means the block wall has to be chipped out and then cement around it. Is this true?

Not sure how they could do that, unless it is in some part of the FL building code that I'm not aware of.

Could use an 1 1/4" Carlon #B108B-UP box.
3/4" fir strip + 1/2" drywall = 1 1/4"

I know this would not fly with our data division.


I use low voltage rings instead of plaster rings.
