Is there a burn-in process associated with MV, MH type lamps to achieve optimum color quality?

Thank you.

I have had a GE rep tell me yes, a Sylvania rep tell me no and a Lutron rep tell me it depends on the lamp type. Kind of like the ground up ground down issue. I always do a 24 hour burn on MH fixtures if for nothing more than weeding out bad lamps or ballasts.

GE MH lamps seem to have a peculiar habit of a burst of color change for a few seconds that have not seen in other brands.
