Multi-wire feeding

I have been doing this over the years and I don't know If it's rigth according NEC.
I'm feeding a 240v outlet with a 12/3 NM ,now I need to feed another box for an extra outlet but 120v ,I'm using the neutral wire from my old box and a hot wire from 240v feeder ,both boxes (receptacles) are protected by a
2P/20A breaker ,as the neutral load just return the unbalanced current from 120v load,this load is added to one line of 240v line ,unbalancing this this one.
But, no exceding the breaker (wire) sizing.

My question is?.Can I do this ? or it's any thing incorrect according to NEC

Sounds fine to me. You will not be overloading any of the three wires, and you have the correct overcurrent protection for the wires.
 
David, just to clarify: all wires to the new receptacle come from the same existing box, right? One cable in and one cable out?

I'm reading this as the neutral from and existing box that will now have a feed(hot) form another. I see this as a problem.

I don't understand if it's the same nut and hot old and new box either.

Sounds like your adding a conveniance rec to a dedicated circuit.

If it's an A/C see 440-34.

Yes ,Larry.The first box is fed with a 12/3(2 hot and a neutral),the receptacle in this box is for a 240v load (don't use neutral wire),then I jump to the other box with the neutral and one of the hots to feed a 120v load.
I know that the 120v load are going to add its load to one of the "hots" ,but ,I think any time we share a neutral with 2 loads (unequals) in a 120v circuit one of the hot wires have more load than the other one. To me its ok,but I don't know by NEC .I trying to find an article related to this .
