According to the Tom Henry book, "Calculations for the Electrical Exam," page 208 (2005 edition),the way to calculate the house load for laundry facilities on the premises is to multiply the number of dwelling units by 1500 VA and add this value to the calculated load. I am unable to find any basis for this procedure in the NEC. In addition, it makes no sense.
Example D4(a) in the NEC is for a multifamily dwelling with laundry facilities on the premises. The service conductors size is determined without the house load. I conclude from this example that there is no predetermined value for the house load. Since it was not stated in the example, it is not known.
Need help.
