Some time ago I was told that if more than 3 circuits were pulled in pipe, I'd have to pull a second grounding conductor. I've been doing so since I was told that, but I haven't been able to find any supporting text in the NEC. Is this required? If so, would someone mind sharing the source of this information?

You were told wrong. You only need one EGC based on the largest OCPD protecting the conductors in the raceway.

250.122(C) Multiple Circuits. Where a single equipment ground- ing conductor is run with multiple circuits in the same raceway, cable, or cable tray, it shall be sized for the largest overcurrent device protecting conductors in the raceway, cable, or cable tray. Equipment grounding conductors in- stalled in cable trays shall meet the minimum requirements of 392.10(B)(1)(c).

I agree with Derek, and in EMT or RMC no wire type EGC is required you could use the raceway as the EGC.

No thats a good trait to have for an electrician, there are is a lot of misinformation out there, keeps getting repeated
