Never had an engineer require any longer than a 10' ground rod, with the exception of cell towers. I noticed that you are a utility guy, which I can see utilities using longer rods at their substations and their facilities, but it is not common practice for general electrical work. Numerous ground rods though, definitely. Had one engineer require a 500 Kcmil to a ground rod.
