On a 480Y/277V system.

Are three hot conductors sharing one neutral, to supply three lighting branch circuits considered a MWBC?
I believe that 210.4 says that it is.
I am being told that 210.4 is only a black,red,white 3 wire.

Branch Circuit, Multiwire. A branch circuit that consists
of two or more ungrounded conductors that have a voltage
between them, and a grounded conductor that has equal
voltage between it and each ungrounded conductor of the
circuit and that is connected to the neutral or grounded
conductor of the system.

Read the definition in Article 100.

Branch Circuit, Multiwire. A branch circuit that consists of two or more ungrounded conductors that have a voltage between them, and a grounded conductor that has equal voltage between it and each ungrounded conductor of the circuit and that is connected to the neutral or grounded conductor of the system.

Color is irrelevant ( just not white, grey, green and green with one or more yellow stripes). Use Blue, Purple and Pink for all the NEC cares.

Thanks, I thought that I was reading the article correctly.

480 sparky, I may have used a bad example with the black, red, white. I was meaning to use an example of a three wire cable all in the same jacket.

Yes.

That is an MWBC also. Whoever is telling you this in misinformed. Show them the definitions posted by MD or Sparky.

Keep in mind you can get NM (if that's what you're referring to) in a 4-wire configuration....black/red/blue/white for 3? applications.
