Why do the majority of Murray AFC breakers that I install humm? What am I doing wrong?

take amperage readings, maybe you have an imbalanced panel.

You didn't happen to drop a bunch of the breakers on a hard surface before you installed them?
Many things can cause this issue.
It is usually just a poor case design which allows internal parts to move around a bit. In other cases, it is a sign that the breaker is about to fail or experiencing some sort of problem. It could also be loose contact with the bus due to a host reasons.
Do some experiements and see what makes the hum go away or lessen and what makes the hum worse. Perhaps you will find a techinique or even a design issue that needs to be considered.

Yes, measure for overload and high temperature. GE breakers are notorious for broken stabs if not lubricated prior to insertion into a panel, SQ D (Homeline) lubricates theirs.

What's been the follow up on those breakers that humm that you've previously installed? Are they still working? Have you had a high turn over on Murray's?
I believe Murray is part of the same corporation as Crouse Hinds, and they make great explosion proof equipment.
