We have been on it since 1/1/8, we have amendments but not to 210.12 or any of the other 'controversial' parts.

The sky has not fallen yet. (I should admit that I still have not had to deal with AFCIs though)
 
I'm just trying to point out facetiously, after the fact, that the '08 code adopted in its' entirety is a "license" for manufacturers and distributors to attack carte blanche the contractors and customers alike with products that have inconclusive testing and performance and yet have become mandated nonetheless through "lobbying" from those entities responsible for their premature introduction. :confused: :smile:

It will require the installation of "QFCI Protection" for all 120 volt and 240 volt outlets in residential units. I know this, because I am writing up the proposal to get this requirement added. If it gets approved by the code committee, I will then have to start working on inventing the QFCI device. This will be my ticket to vast wealth. :smile: If any of you out there are on the code review committees, I would appreciate your favorable consideration of this proposal. :wink:

Oh, and by the way, for those of you who are not acquainted with the truly appalling nature of an engineer?s sense of humor, all of the above was intended as a joke. :roll:

Charlie, if your new product has any effect on your Carbon Footprint, I own a vacant lot and will have some Carbon Credits for sale.
 
Like Charlie indicated, I too am working on a code proposal to mandate electron caps on all receptacles in private and public dwellings. As we all know, residual electrons leaking for receptacles have been the primary cause of numerous fires. The unused electrons leak onto the carpeting, spread to other flammable material and BOOM, structure fire. The electron caps will reduce this effect dramatically. I will let everyone know when they are available on the market. I see know reason why the panel would not support the proposal for life safety reasons:)

The availability is of little consequence, just as long as you're able to get the requirement into the code. Then, afterwards, when you've got some time on your hands, then you can perfect them and get them on the market. :smile: :D :D
