Re: N.C. Master license

I am in NC and we would be more than glad to have ya ;)

All you have to do is prove your VA licence and pay the fee.

Re: N.C. Master license

I have talked with the ncbeec over the phone and I've been told that the electrical contracting license is reciprocal, a tradesman license was not required.
Not much help from ncbeec.
I do not have a contracting license nor do I want one at this time.
With that being said, who do I talk to, and how much is fee for master license.

Thanks

Re: N.C. Master license

that is the funny thing about NC. a person can never get a licence. A person can only become a Qualified Individual.

A company has to get a licence, and use the Qualified Individual as a Listed Person.

But, if you are going to go to work for someone else here, you dont need a licence.

One master can run as big a crew as he wants.

JB, I have a license, you can check it out if you would like, it is 25477U.

Go to this page and navigate through it, you will see that the individual is infact licensed, and his/her license can be added to a companies license making him/her a listed qualified individual under a company if he/she chose to do so.

JB, not sure as to where I'll be moving to.
The company I work for is in the Highway electrical business and they are pursuing state highway work in NC.
I quess you could say I'll be moving to where ever the highway takes me, hopefully Chapel Hill area.

mine is 26445u

The licence can be in the name of the company, or the licencee can become a sole propriator or one man business. but the licence is in the business name.

I too hold an NC license 16247L. Untill I joined this forum, I had never heard the terms "Master" or "Journeyman". Still not sure what they mean or how they are obtained. Here in NC an individual holds a contractors license under one or more categories.

Re: N.C. Master license

JB, I know what you are saying but, when you passed the exam you are issued your license number, not a "Qualified Individual" number.

Your information is;

License License Owner Listed Company DBA Name City State Additional Qualifiers
26445-U Jeffrey Blair White D & J Electrical Contracting LLC Newport NC No Additional Qualifiers Listed

Notice the heading License Owner.

Re: N.C. Master license

when i passed the test i was issued a card that said.. you are now a qualified individual. you cannot do electrical work until you apply for a licence.

i could have started a company, but instead i listed with my current employer.

Roger, Jb and Electiecman you are aware that this can give away where you are located.
Mine is 9873U, does this make me an old fart?

Re: N.C. Master license

JB, no argument from me on that, I received the same information, but I was issued my license number.

Bigtread, there are some municipalities that do require a card to work in, Asheville requires a state license (their wording) or city journeyman card on a one to one ratio (licensed worker to unlicensed worker) for all electrical work.

Mike; JB, John, and myself may agree that you are an old fart, but we love you. :D

roger, wake county (raleigh) started that right before i moved down east.

I think it is a great idea. a qualified electrician should be overseeing every job.
