My chest was all puffed up and proud, till I came to this site. I leared, how little I had leared.

I now know, you can never know it all.

I live about half way between you and Roger and about thirty minutes south of John. I am about 12 miles east of the NC Zoo in Asheboro, NC. My neighbor gets his mail from Ramseur.
Now if you want to talk about a small world.

That would be Modern Electric Inc. in Raleigh and the second license holder in the state .with Haynes Electric of Asheville coming in third. Starr Electric of Greensboro is number 4 on the list with the number one spot being shut down. I was 9,873rd person on the long list of 14,147 license holders in the great state of North Carolina. The break down is as follows:
Intermediate 550
Limited 8,898
Unlimited 3,079
SP-SFD 509
SP-LV 677
SP-PH 275
SP-EL 40
SP-ES 56
SP-SP 13
SP-WP 50
Total 14,147

The Limited (L), Intermediate (I), and Unlimited (U) classifications allow a licensee to perform residential, commercial and industrial work. The Residential dwelling license (SP-SFD) permits electrical contracting projects pertaining to single-family detached residential dwellings. There are also six (6) special restricted electrical contracting classifications which allow only a limited phase of electrical contracting work: Low Voltage (SP-LV), Elevator (SP-EL), Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning (SP-PH), Groundwater pump (SP-WP), Electric Sign (SP-ES), Swimming Pool (SP-SP).

North Carolina has 100 counties and this would equate to 141.47 electricians per county. Is it any wonder that the residential sector has dipped to a license holder having to struggle to make wages?

And to add to the problem if your not a EC you have worked for one. Around here a lot of unlicensed people doing work. hard to compete with a guy with no insurance and no real overhead that has a buddy helper that will do the work for way less than you can. If they need a permit they get the Home owner to say the are doing the work.
