To all you North Carolina EC's:

Just to let you know that as of June 1, 2008 the 2008 NEC became the new electrical code for NC except for the 3 items that where under review. The items that where under review are no longer under review and as of July 3rd are to be part of the code.


What does this mean:

The expansion of AFCI's will take place January 1, 2009
Tamper Resistant Receptacles took place starting July 3, 2008
SE Cables will be rated 60 degrees starting July 3, 2008

Looks like you go by the 2008 NEC except for the expanded AFCI rules. Bedrooms only until next year.

Well that's not true. I had listed some amendments that were already accepted on June 1 in another thread. There were these few issues that were still up in the air until the general assembly met. They met and have made these final decisions

The effective date for the weather resistant type receptacles is still Jan. 1, 2009.
