Hi All, for those of you who do building wiring, you know that taking the PE can be difficult, well now there is an exam for Architectural Engineering which will help.

I have a degree in Architectural Engineering which encompasses Lighting and Power Distribution design. Like me many will find the electrical engineering exam to be more electronics engineering. If you take this exam, you will find electrical engineering which deals with the the construction field only. So this means you won't have DC circuits, and Diododes and theory. The best part this exam will benefit those who have been working in the construction field, and you will still receive a PE license upon passing this exam. In essence, it's just another exam option. For me this is great, because I deal only with construction, and less with electronics.

Just food for thought. If you like more information, check this website below:

If you area of expertise is architectural, then I agree, take the Architectural PE exam. But if your area of expertise is electrical distribution, the architectural exam could be more difficult. Only 23% of the exam is electrical and lighting. 50% of the exam is mechanical and structural.

And you are right. It is a PE license. But as we all know, you should never use your stamp for areas outside you expertise.

Just my two cents.

Oh, I agree and thanks for your thoughts. I have the benefit of being trained in all these areas, because I went to Penn State. They train you to do all the options. However, someone who went to another schools for AE might not have that benefit. You are right, but for me...I'm set. This test will be great for me. I'm just excited about it. :)

Not too often, but I was always at Cafe 210, and the "Corner", and the "Diner". I will never forget the longs lines a Ben and Jerry's!! :)

Re: Ne w Architectural Engineering Exam

My friend was on the Dean's list '96-97.
He graduated Penn State in '99 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he landed a good paying job, but soon found himself out of work.
He quickly fell into depression and drugs.
I just got home from his Memorial Service.
He was 29 years old.
Anyone thinking of doing heroin, I would advise against it.
