This article addresses the support of FMC. Specifically it states, "FMC shall be securely fastened in place by an approved means within 300mm(12in) of each box, cabinet, conduit body, or other termination...."

Exception 2 allows this distance to be increased if the FMC is installed for flexibility after installation. The distances are increased from "the last point where the FMC is securely fastened".

Is a connector, for a transformer install, considered a "securely fastened" point? For exception 4, a connector is specifically allowed as a means of securement and fastening.

The language in Ex 4 was changed in the 2023 code
2020: For the purposes of this exception, listed flexible metal conduit fittings shall be permitted as a means of securement and support.
2023:For the purposes of the exceptions, listed FMC fittings shall be permitted as a means of securement and support.
