I have a good topic for discussion for a lovely Friday.
NEC 358.30 ? EMT shall be securely fastened in place.
That is the gist of the referenced article above, BUT...
What would a contractor do in the event that the item supporting the EMT needs to span a distance greater that would be typical? Say a mechanical room with a ceiling height of +/- 40 feet and said raceway needs to attach to a mechanical piece of equipment that is floor mounted in the center of the room.
3/8" all thread is attached from a beam clamp and spans a distance of +/- 30' with 7/8" uni-strut along the all-thread to strap the conduits to. These is not any structural steel within 15' or more laterally from where the EMT drops down from the ceiling.
Any thoughts, comments and discussions would be appreciated
