For single conductors connected in parallel, we generally install them in a triangular configuration. However short circuit current can cause them to violently separate, exerting thousands of pounds of force (even when fault levels are moderate). Cable ties (even metal ties) are usually not strong enough to withstand the forces generated during a short circuit. The oil and gas companies are using cable cleats in these applications (don't know if I can say the company name on this forum). Does anyone out there have experience with cable cleats?
