I have procedure room which is defined as general care space. The room has bed in which procedures are performed and has sink like 30 feet away from bed. The room has critical branch, normal branch.

Within six feet of sink the receptacle is GFCI.
I noticed NEC 2014 Section 210.8(b)(5) has exception to GFCI for bed locations general care space. However 517 says definition of patient bed is bed is in critical care area. This got me confused my space is general care. Would GFCI required or fall under exception and not required within six feet of sink?

I believe the definition of patient bed states sleeping bed (any area) OR procedure bed in critical area so the exception in 210.8 would apply in either (plis517.21 for critical care)

Ok so procedure table/bed I have is defined in room as General care space by the governing body however their is normal branch and critical branch for power since its ambulatory.

So the last part of definition procedure table of critical area maybe not apply not sure since area is defined as general care space which leaves sleeping bed. Patient is not going to sleep in procedure table no?
