My question pertains to 645.5 (D) (5): According to this section it appears that any cord-and-plug power cables for IT equipment residing under a raised floor used for ventilation is required to be listed as Type DP.

We have a IT equipment vendor claiming his SJTOW power cables ARE plenum rated.

Any recommendations on verifying this? I would have expected to see the "DP" stamped on the cable sheath, like you would see on communications cabling.

Rob, type "DP" cable stands for "Data Processing", but if it is BCC your IT guy is talking about look at 645.5(D)(2).

If your jurisdiction has adopted the 2008 NEC, you can also just ensure that "Supply cords of listed information technology equipment in accordance with 645.5(B). " (NEC-2008 645.5(D)(3))
That seems to override the DP requirement found in what is now numbered as (D)(6)

But, first you have to make sure that the room complies with 645.4. If is does not, then all of the standard code rules apply, not the [FONT=&quot]leniencies that are permitted by Article 645.
