Hello All,
This is my first post. I'm not an electrician. I have hired a retired electrician to help move/redo some wiring in my master bathroom. I have one 20 amp circuit feeding only this bathroom. I have a 15 amp lighting circuit in this bathroom as well. I'm adding some new can lights over the vanity and over the tub area. This retired electrician has suggested that we put the exhaust fan switch and the shower stall light switch right outside the glass shower door. These two switches are 1.5' to 2' from the shower door. My question - is this distance to the switches outside the shower stall ok? He suggests that we can put most all devices in the bathroom on this GFI 20 amp circuit and the two switches by the shower door will be on this circuit as well. Is the switch placement near the shower door ok by NEC standards?
