They probably meant the NFPA 70E requirements, however without knowing the scope of work, the appropriate clothing cannot be determined.

The NEC does not cover clothing. I expect that you are asking about the PPE required by NFPA 70E. The clothing will vary based on the available fault energy. Work clothes that look very much like normal work clothes are available that will comply with level 2 protection (8cal/cm^2).
