Article 450.27 discusses safegaurds for transformer installations presenting a fire hazard. I am installing two oil insulated transformers on the roof of an Electrical Room (Top of Roof is 18' Above grade). The Electrical Room sits adjacent to a process building that is approximately 40 ft high. If the oil/insulating fluid used is the newer Envirotemp FR3 Dielectric Coolant (i.e. edible seed oil or vegetable oil) do the safegaurds of 450.27 still apply?
