NEC Code Making Process

It's my understanding that the NEC wont be changed unless a proposal is made. A lot of times a proposal addresses one piece of an article. Over time the article ends up all piece meal. It's a mess. It's not organized.

Shouldn't the CMP's take an over all look at their articles and keep them organized of their own accord.

Look at this.

250.64(C) Only says the GEC has to be continuous. Not continuous to each electrode.

This is kind of stupid but:

250.64(F) Say that one end of the GEC only has to go to any convenient electrode.

And.

Article 100 "Grounding Electrode Conductor" Says where the other end goes. (To the service)

The conductors between the electrodes are allowed to be bonding jumpers.

This how I ended up answering a question in another thread. Is it any wonder someone would have a hard time figuring out how to deal with this.

Shouldn't this all be in one section? And why can't a CMP keep it neat without a thousand different people making proposals?

Bless your heart Sam,
Should the NEC be allowed to be written by one person then we would truly have a mess. By having the members of the CMPs work together to write the code it gives people like you and me a chance to gather together in groups of two to three hundred and fuss about how stupid those who work on these panels are. We now have a chance to debate just what the meaning of this or that phrase is. Just the other day I read a post about some stupid inspector that thought that the CMP intended that we do something or the other. I dare him to try and interpret just what that CMP was trying to say. What ever gave him the idea that he could do something that none of the rest of us could do? See how much fun we would be missing out on if the codes whether electrical, building, plumbing, and mechanical or fire was easy to understand.
I mean no harm with this reply, only humor.

Is it not the job of the TCC to cordinate and correlate sections and articles as they change?

Bryan, you are sort of correct. The TCC can't do everything and they miss things. It is up to each panel to write Code that makes sense. Generally, there are about a dozen voting members on a panel and then each can have an alternate. Keep in mind that a camel is actually a horse that was designed by a committee.
