Am I correct? Is this just crazy?

230.28 Service Masts as Supports. Where a service mast
is used for the support of service-drop conductors, it shall
be of adequate strength or be supported by braces or guys
to withstand safely the strain imposed by the service drop.
Where raceway-type service masts are used, all raceway
fittings shall be identified for use with service masts. Only
power service-drop conductors shall be permitted to be attached
to a service mast.

What's wrong with it?

You have a 1 1/4" mast w/weatherhead containing the wires to God-knows-where.

My only questions are:
Is the RGC bonded ?
Does the RGC have any support/guy wires?

It's NOT a service mast....it holds ONLY the dish and associated wiring. Those other wires appear to be the Cable Co.'s that someone snipped into obliviation ;)

It's not a service mast any longer, you can see that the service conductors have been removed from the raceway and the person states the phone and power where re-run underground.

Here is the picture

As long as the dish wiring leaves the raceway before it gets to the service panel it looks to me like a great use of the old mast.

yes thats ty raps. In the post on dbsforums there are several dishes mounted in this fashion on service poles. Most of the poles are still being used to supply power to the buildings. The original poster refers to this being common in his area. Im not sure where this is but as a dish installer I am concerened about that quality of work. I would never even think about installs like that even if it wasnt a violation. The dish company and inspector should be notified

You obviously did not read the posts carefully.

The person lives in some sort of government housing and all the power and phone has been routed underground.

Further they state
(government housing rules require that must go there if there are no obstructions).

Further still the NEC does may not apply to government housing.
