Which section of the code requires the fire alarm interface for the elevator emergency off, whether a fused disconnect switch is required with a shunt trip or can get by with a circuit breaker with a shunt trip coil. Please be specific for the code ref.

620.51(B). If you have a sprinkler in stalled in the hoistway... If not, then don't worry about it. If you do have a sprinkler then you normally have a fire alarm panel. Usually you want a smoke detector in the hoistway to signal an elevator recall. Once recalled then you trip the breaker.

Of course you could have a smoke detector just trip the breaker. Leave the customers in between floors until it is reset. Also reference ASME A17.1-2004 Rule 2.8.2.3 and 102.29(c) Finally look at NFPA 72 6.16.4
