What do you mean, when you say it "needs to be explosion proof? Who or what is telling you that?
With regard to finding a fan that suits your needs, the NEC is not the place to look. The manufacturers are the ones that build some of their products as explosion proof, and other products that are not explosion proof. It is their literature that you must read, to find the one you need.

Joe, you're being mean. I thought Texas was the "drive friendly" state. At least it was when I grew up there. But then, we were driving Conestoga wagons in those days.

When I mentioned the wagon, I was merely making a joke about being old, as in "I'm so old that we rode in Conestoga wagons." Given that their hay day came to an end over 150 years ago, I thought the joke had some merit.
But then a member admitting to not knowing what that type of wagon was (he must be younger than me). So I did a quick Google search, and the first site I found had a nice picture. I posted the link, rather than try to explain the joke. I did not even read the text of that site. I apologize for any message that may have been inadvertently conveyed by my choice of link.
