Re: need help on transformer

Dave,

My point was, if you have a standard drive isolation transformer with the ratio of 460-230Y/133 you can connect it to a 480V (nominal) source and get 240/139 (nominal) without having to use any taps.

Re: need help on transformer

well here is the rest of the story.
seems that there was a little miscomunication with germany.

(thankfully)

all the machine requires is 240v 3ph, and 120v control, so we are going with a 480v to 240v
delta to delta with a center tap to get the 120v control.

i really appreciate all the feed back i learned alot from all of it and the research.

by the way, can anyone point be to a good source for transformer information, such as connections and how they are used, i would appreciate it

regards, clay

Re: need help on transformer

Just a word of warning. Standard 480-240/120V delta-delta with center tap transformers are limited to 5% loading on the center tap. If all you need is "control" power this should be okay, if not just add a dedicated control transformer.
