Hi,
I have just upgraded my home service to a 400 amp pedestal mount (2 breaker) near the power pole at the street. I want to run a new below grade 200 amp line to my shop. The inspector recommended (his opinion only) conduit for my 260' run because of our rocky soil. I will be using 4/0, 4/0, 2/0, #4 aluminum direct burial cable either way. The thought of pulling all that cable through 2.5" conduit and added cost and labor does not sound fun. Contractors in this area skip the conduit. Can anyone add some thoughts on this wire, conduit and length of run? I need to get going on this but everyone I talk to has a different opinion.
Thanks, Erik
