Need to raise a service drop...

I would like to replicate this:

Need to raise the drop 2 - 3 feet because of clearance issues.

Any ideas / suggestions ?

Not to replicate that. Or if you do don't let any one know you did.

If it were me, new mast & wire. Be done with it, and sleep well. You'll even e able to point at that house and say I did that.

In that pic, the POCO installed that - not an EC. I know, that probably doesnt matter.

Replacing the mast means tearing out a wall, since it is in the wall and strapped inside the wall [I would assume]

I agree with you guys though, What can be done, and what should be done are 2 different things.

Check out 230.54(C), the weather-head is supposed to be above the point of attachment.

In my opinion if you (an electrician) install a new point of attachment it has to comply with the NEC.
 
instead of tearing out the wall, why not abandon the old riser? remove the conductors, cut the old riser off and cap it, and install a new riser on the exterior of the building and set a new meterbase and re-feed the panel?

couplers above the roofline are not allowed in my area, poco wont attach to them...

Tearing out a wall may only be removing some drywall. I'd go with replacing the riser.

Here, the 2" rigid must be back brace/thru bolted thru the framing members if it's over 36".

No you wouldn't.
You might consider going inside just below the riser and cutting a hole in the wall big enough to cut the riser and put in a coupling then drop a longer piece in from over head. No coupling above the roof. Taller riser, add some support so it doesn't get torn out by passing air planes, and you are good to go.

I think you may have missed "poco doesn't allow couplings above roof" in his area.

would it be possible to get on top of the roof and unthread the pipe and pull it out from above, then cut and thread an extension, screw it onto the bottom and drop it back in, and thread it back in from above? Im sure the roof boot would have to be removed and replaced as well...
 
if im gathering all your info correctly, just take the old service and disconnect it. pull out the meter and install a new meter base panel combo and put up a new riser. you make more money that way. cut off the old riser at the roof and cap off the top.

Top
