So I have a 4 unit + common+ store+ 2 salons.

I cant get a meter for the next 1.5 years. Horrible I know you guys going through the same thing. It’s a 600 amp service.

Since I can’t get a meter box, the inspector wants me to put a 600 main disconnect outside, but I’m not sure how I can temporary supply power to the building/units while I wait for the meter box. Anyone have any ideas ? I thought I can out up single gang meters and just have separate risers for each one but the inspector shut me down on that because I need a 600 amp main disconnect for the service line coming in.

Guys im in a jam! Any help would be appreciated. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Yeah, anything over six mains, you will need to have a single main ahead of it as @jaggedben suggested.

Actually per the NEC I see no reason you can't have multiple service disconnects. But you'd have to have at least some of the meters downstream of a service disconnect because you named 8, if I can still count correctly.

For example maybe you could split everything among two 300A discos. Or have one service disco for the 4 units tapped to individual meters and discos, and then individual meter/mains for the common and commercial units?
