NEMA 15-50 and NEC 210.8

At least when I've run into this, the inspector said, "If they don't make it, you don't have to put it in." Maybe show the AHJ that Square-D doesn't make one that matches the system AIC, and it would cause more of a hazard in the event of an overload to install a breaker that can't handle the available inrush current.
 
They make a requirement, then NFPA writes it in the code despite there being almost no products to meet the requirements. A product that does exist that can be adjusted is disqualified. It's just silly.
At least two brands have products that meet the requirements.
 
They both probably have representatives on the CMPs that just so happen to require these products. Purely coincidentally, I'm sure.
Pretty sure neither of those companies have anyone on any of the 18 CMPs.

Also no interest group can have more than 1/3 of the panel membership and it takes a 2/3s vote to make a code change
