NEMA 3R disconnect

Due to circumstance I have to mount a 400A Service Disconnect outdoors.
I have to independently support the switch from the building.

QUESTION:
I looked in the code but can't find any reference to a mounting height for the switch or maximum distance from the bldg for switch location ?????????[/list]

Mounting height of the switch would have to be made in compliance with 404.8(A) and there is no specified distance for the main disconnect that is remote from the building served.

I do not have the code handy but I thought a service disconnect had to located within 10 feet of a building.

Go to your own "My Profile" area, and look at the bottom of the page. There is a place to add your own Avatar image, and it tells you the limits on image size and file size. You can upload any image you have on your own hard drive. But please keep it clean, and don't violate anyone's copyrights.
