No.

A NEMA-rated nonmetallic enclosure provides better shock protection (assuming it is intact and undamaged) than a NEMA-rated metallic enclosure. :angel:

Except for providing a degree of protection from "Incidental contact with the enclosed equipment", for the most part yes... but in full disclosure, they provide various "degree of protection against... environmental conditions", not just "the elements".

I agree plastic would have an advantage.I did not go into details,as we are running ridged conduit.Metal boxes,etc.The location is inside and would only be splashed by accident if ever.

NEMA 12 and 13 provides some degree of protection from liquids dripping from above, but not necessarily splashing, depending on what you mean by that. Only NEMA 4 and 6 provide protection from unidirectional water. Maybe more than you need, but that's what you have to work with if you have an undefined event like "splashing".
