Neon sign, 2 plugs for one sign?

Hi there, I just registered here so I can ask this question to some experts... I recently bought a large neon sign... its a brand new sign, not an old restored one... and comes with 2 separate wall plugs... one lights up the top of the sign, the other lights up the bottom when plugged in. I'd like to splice both cords into one, so i can plug it into a single outlet for a cleaner look, but I'm thinking there may be a reason it has two plugs... Do I run a risk of overloading the circuit by splicing them together? I would think with each plugged into the same wall box it wouldn't make any difference, but I'm no electrician, which is why i figured I'd ask... I never let it on when i'm not around anyhow, but I don't want to overload anything... opinions? Thanks in advance btw! -Joe Barr
