Neutral current

Re: Neutral current

I was responding to Ed's take on this subject dated Feb 18, 2005. When he said, "The neutral current only flows in the secondary circuit."
I didn't say that.

What I actually said was - " Current doesn't "flow through" a transformer.
The primary current flows only in the primary circuit, and the secondary (load) current, including any possible fault current, flows only in the secondary circuit."

Re: Neutral current

Sparks,

Secondary current, including the neutral current, flows only in the secondary.

Although there is a connection to the primary "neutral", there is no closed loop, therefore the neutral current cannot flow in the primary. It is however magnetically reflected back into the primary and the HV distribution system.

I?m concerned to hear it. :D
When I have nothing to say, I at least do not try to delude myself into thinking that I have something to say. That?s one of the key reasons I don?t do politics. ;)

There you go pointing out more of my lies again. You hadn?ta aughn?ta done that. :D

My intend was to convey the concept of AC currents, and that lie is irrelevant to the concept.

Re: Neutral current

Ed,
I never said, "current flowed through a transformer". You are taking what I said out of context again! I'm well aware that current doen't flow directly through a transformer with the exception of an auto transformer.
What I'm saying is the secondary current is magnetically reflected back to the primary and back to the poco!
