I'm installing a subpanel to serve a ductless "minisplit" heat pump, with the intent that 1 or 2 additional minisplits may be added in future.
The first minisplit does not require a neutral - just ground and two hots. As best I can tell, this is pretty typical of these units.
But I'm unsure as to whether it'd be a mistake to make the subpanel 240vac only, IOW not run a neutral to it. Is boils down to this question: is it standard for minisplits to not require a neutral ? How likely is it that a future minisplit added to the panel would require a neutral ?
