Is the neurtal required in a MTS. Wiring in metal conduit, 1 ph 120/240 volts,stand by generator. The Mts has 2 conduits entering it , The first conduit is from the generator containing 2 phase conductors, 1 neutral and 1 ground. The second conduit has 2 phase conductors from the utility co. power, 2 phase conductors returning to the load center, 1 neutral (from the gene) and 1 equipment ground. the utility co. neutral is not run to the MTS. Would this installation cause heating due to the utility neutral not being present? and if no would this violate the NEC?
