Neutral to equipment ground link removal (cont.)
Neutral to equipment ground link removal (cont.)
I know this thread was started yesterday, but I have an interesting question that revolves around this same issue. I recently ran across a 4000 amp 3 phase 480/277vv service in which the neutral link (bond) to the grounding bus was removed. The electrician had pulled 11-4/0 awg bare cu conductors back to the neutral point of the 1500kva utility xfmr that served the service equipment. The bare neutrals were attached to the grounding bus, essentially the frame of the service gear. The neutral bar had been removed. My thoughts, expressed to the electrician at that time was that he no longer had a serviceable neutral because he had introduced neutral current onto the frame of the service gear. (objectionable current). He had created a 3ph, 3w
service with an equipment grounding conductor. What are your thoughts on this from a code standpoint?
