how about some 14-3? Or are you one of those commercial guys that thinks that #12 is the only way to go. :)

When you run 12-3 your good for almost anything. What if you need 20 amps for that unknown. For same reason i want the extra circuit i also want it to be ready for 20. And yes since turning commercial i simply just prefer 12 over 14.
 
I bet you've never asked the POCO to supply you with two 120v services. :grin:
In most cases they do... they just share the same neutral, and also most often have the other hot opposite it allow you to get 240.... :rolleyes:

Seriously, I do not know where this fear of shared neutral circuits comes from when every service that has a neutral in the first place - is shared?????

Yes poco shares neutral and not much we can do about that. But we have the choice to not let it go past our MDP. I have seen more than my share of the damage from the poco losing theres. Electronics today will fry and we are talking major money. A split second loss is enough to plenty. Other than time and material is there a good reason to do it ?

Well there is less voltage drop on the neutral wire due to its only carying unbalanced current.

Yes that's true but if voltage drop is the problem in a house then the home run must be a mighty long one. And that should be handled same as we do in commercial by upsizing wire.
I am not saying i would not do it a track home . There we all know we either are low bid or no job. Simply saying if wiring my own i don't want any shared neutrals but then i would not want romex either.

yes that evil and scary romex should be outlawed. Nobody in their right mind should use that stuff.

Ya know at my work my boss does not allow MWBC due to his lack of confidence in the techs. How ever I thing it's a great technology and do on my own jobs.

You know I bet there is no problem ever caused by MWBCs that can't be explained by either a code violation or installer incompetence.
