went to a call today ac not working, 90 plus out
go to the condenser and its running.. go in the house
and its blowing hot air, figured it lost its charge so i go to
the cellar and the furnace is running...
how can they both be running ?? so i shut down the service
switch the gas valve closes and the duct work begins to cool.
i pulled the power connector from the gas valve so it can't happen
again and tell them maybe a bad digital thermostat...:-? everything else
looked ok. anyone ever encounter such a thing happening ?

thanks

Another thing to check besides the thermostat itself being bad is to make sure that thermostat wire is not damaged. ( Iam sure that you did check this already)You may be sending signals for both heating/A-C at same time ?Who knows, may be someone put a nail thru it.

Best idea is to shut the system down and call those that are fully qualified to work on the system. Those wonderfull HVAC technicians. ;)

Might be a bad contactor. You need to find out why the heat contactor is closed. This can be the therm.,wiring, contactors, control board.Have seen problem before but not often.

the more i think of it, maybe a relay on the furnace circuit board cause it
didn't restart after i shut down the safety and restarted it but why it called is a mystery....

thanks
