When installing new( not a draw out) breaker into an existing board is it a lot of work? You might be able to get a parts kit from the manufacturer to do so.
It’s more than just mounting into a distribution panel. What Bob means is that there are usually several hardware aspects that you have to deal with in that there are depth issues and distance to the main bus to contend with, new doors etc.. If the switchboard mfr is still in business you can usually get the hardware kits to do that, if they are not, you may have to go to an aftermarket company to get them made. When installing new( not a draw out) breaker into an existing board is it a lot of work?
Yes, Square D I-Line is kind of the exception, although I would argue that it’s a panelboard, not a switchboard. There is a slight difference. The OP just said “board” though, so I may have misinterpreted.Depends on the manufacturer, with ILine, it’s a simple pull out-push in. The existing breaker being removed to free up enough space on the buss. Other manufacturers, you have to get another “finger” kit for the higher amp breakers. Without knowing the manufacturer and style, your shooting in the dark. You may also need filler plates.
