New construction with Brick Veneer question

I was wondering how those of you that do residential wiring handle the exterior boxes? Specifically do you use plastic or metal? I have done plenty of work with various sidings, and have my first brick whole house wiring job coming up.

Any input is appreciated.

For receptacles, I use these in all applications. To me it is a much better fit, feel, and appearence than a box and "bubble" cover. As far as lights are concerned, a metal octogon. I ame sure a plastic box would be fine, just one of those quirks that I do not like a plastic light box in brick.

the screw holes are on the inside and if you wrap them with duct tape they fair pretty well

of course they come in 3-1/2 deep and gangable but you get the idea

Try a masonry box, on its side - to course, introduce yourself to the mason, tell him your plans, but you have to be there as the low wall goes up ....

He might put in a box for you, I don't know, I've had conduit stubbed out the back of a masons box, but I've always been there as the exterior rises...

i havent used any of that type yet.looks like it would be great on lap sideing.just looks like you would have to cut off the flange to fit in brick or does it adjust out?i usually i just use a metal box and let the brick man put it in a course.

They will stand the masonry box up to be in vertical but that ususally requires inquiries about liquid refreshments

they make an adjustable box..it mounts on the wall/stud and uses a screw to adjust the height of box..I would do walk through with mason..I would have boxes in and show mason how to adjust other wise you will be on slow days for mason..brick work is time consuming they only do so many courses before they quit and let them harden up..you then hope mason adjusts box correctly when concrete hardens up box is permanent..

Here are the pics I talked about. I was able to stop by today and snap one or two, but it saved it as a large bitmap file so I only loaded one. We did this house some months back and had the masons install these for us. (Actually, they forgot and had to go back and cut them in. :roll: )
