Just bought a new house with a T&B panel. Of course I opened the panel and see an array of T&B, GE and even a square D breaker. I know that’s not allowed technically. I’m a big fan of Siemens breakers use them a lot at my job.

i know it’s now technically right but if I put all new Siemens gfci/afci breakers is it that BIG of a deal? I am unsure of the quality of T&B or if they even have those breakers available.

The T&B breakers were UL classified to be used in in other makes of panels, but with that product line gone, I think the only breaker classified to be used in T&B panels will be from Eaton, like the OP, I would rather use Siemens, but the only proper way would be to swap the T&B panel for a Siemens.

Weren’t T&B the breakers with a strange side clip? I only saw 1 or 2 of years gen ever.

I think you may be remembering the Challenger, & Crouse-Hinds, twin breakers, nice idea but trying to stuff 10 pounds of manure in a 5 pound bag.

Crouse-Hinds was it. I should have remembered. I saw very few of them. I saw a few Challenger years ago.
