I am looking at a number of jobs in NJ.

Can anyone give me rough estimate what permits to retrofit light fixtures would be?

Figure about 130 fixtures per permit or about $9000 to $10,000 value per permit. (I own labor only)

Remember that is a listing of state fees. Fees for individual municipalities are available from the municipality and you should be able to have them fax you a copy if you call the town.

Rick is correct. Municipalities vary on their fees so I would contact the one you intend to work in and have them fax you a schedule. I've found that fees for most jobs are usually based on the dollar value of the job. For example, if I do a 200 amp residential service upgrade in my town the fee is about $50.00. Move over into the next county and 2 or 3 towns away and the fee goes up to $100.00.

There is also a DCA fee attached to each permit. Those are the $$ set aside to send the municipal inspectors for training.

Long trip from Mass to change fixtures isn't it ? I just came back from a week in Cape Cod.:p

The jobs are in about 40 different municipalities. I was hoping it would be standardized.

This is going to be a pain. :(

In NC the municipalities are different. Even with 3 in the same county.
Different rules and different pricing.
They act like the other one does not exist.

Bob,
Did you check with one of the local AHJ's you may not need a permit for retro fit of fixtures

We usually quote our work ex permit fees. We have an idea so we can ball park for the client. We attach a copy of the receipt to the permit docs and bill only what we wrote the check for.

Wet chemical suppression system at $2,500 to $5,000 is Typically $100 - $175. A $5,000 fire alarm is about $250.

Bernards Twp is freaking expensive, usually runs 2x any adjacent municipality.
