I'm working on a project that has a new service being fed to an existing building. The intent is for it to stub up inside the building. I want to provide the contractor with as much information as possible but I am not very familiar with the proper installation method. We don't have a standard detail for this either. Is this typically done by going through the foundation wall or does it typically go below the footings?

Any insight is appreciated!

I think you can do it either way, depending on the details on site. Burial depth requirements probably don't require going lower than the footing but you didn't tell us those details.

I gather this is not a one or two family dwelling that needs an emergency disconnect outside per the 2020 or 2023 code.

You need to keep in mind the required burial depth on the outside portion plus the limitation on length for unprotected service conductors on the interior portion.
