New steel bond...existing wood structure

Currently doing a 2 story commercial addition. New construction is steel added on to existing building which is wood framing members. I know the steel needs to be bonded. My question is do I have to bond it all the way back to the main? Or can I bond it in the new panel I am setting? Or is there another way? My first thought is that it needs to go back to the service but started doubting myself as I usually do.

It has to go back to the main service.

Is the steel 'exposed' - and 'may become energized'????

The latter is vague and up to your AHJ.

If so you could also take it to a GEC or to an electrode used for the service - it need not have to go by itself back to the service...

So you would bond according to 250.66 and the steel would become a grounding electrode, correct???
