I just purchased the 2002 National Fire Alarm Code.

It's written in English but in a dialect that I can barely understand.

I'm now looking to get some supplemental material. The debate is now between the Handbook and Fire Alarm Signaling Systems.

Any recommendations?

Re: NFPA 72

They are both good choices. If you can't choose both, then choose the Handbook if you get into detailed code interpretations. Choose the Fire Alarm Signaling Systems for more general overall applications. The Fire Alarm Signaling Systems includes some references to other codes, whereas the NFPA 72 handbook, as you could imagine, is NFPA 72 only.

Yes, 2002 is the latest edition list under the NFPA website. This is "normally" updated every three years. I have seen updates for 90, 93, 96 & 99 for sure.
