NFPA Fire Alarm Requirements

Does anyone know of a good website or a document specifying the requirements for Fire Alarm AV devices, smoke detectors, heat detectors and pull stations other than NFPA 72? I am more or less looking for a document indicating locations where these devices would be required. I checked the Simplex Web Site but I could not find anything.

For a commercial or industrial building, the IBC through the ICC would be a great start but I would contact the municipality that you are planning for to see what state, county or local codes apply.

You could look at the National Training Center's website http://www.swiftpage2.com/SpeClicks.aspx?Acc=ntc.bryan&SPCED=C080923110000&LNK=2&UId=760 and get a copy of "The Brown Book".
 
Assuming your are in MA then they are currently under the 2003 IBC. That is the best place to get started. Contact your local plans examiner and take into consideration they may have separate accessiblity requirements.
