Nipples....

Also it seems there are no "prefab" EMT nipples and most all are RGS? Does that make sense? What if your using EMT on the job why wouldn't you use EMT for the nipple?

Sometimes I will make a nipple out of emt, and other times I will buy a threaded rigid one. Usually it will come down to whether I have the appropriate size EMT laying around or not. I'm not going to buy a stick to make up a couple nipples.

So nipples are not always RGS.
Well, they could be IMC, PVC or aluminum. The term transcends electrical work too, so add brass, stainless etc.

Definition of ”nipple” as it relates here:
4
: a pipe coupling consisting of a short piece of threaded tubing
So by definition it cannot apply to EMT. A short piece of EMT is just a short piece of EMT.

Where is that definition from?

Do you guys usually make your own or buy them "prefab" as you see below
It depends on your conduit installation method.Standard lengths as shown are available but if you are in-between pre made lengths then yes.

Also there are threadless connectors.
