Paul, I owe you a reply I haven't gotten around to.
Nepotism is a pretty good description of my problem with San Francisco's building department.
I think some of their people (certainly not all) were tuned down by the boy scouts, or some other traumatic anomaly may be the cause, and the behaviour of (some of) these people is just atrocious. The biggest big shots you ever saw. The egos on these people. I think it comes from a bureaucratic environment where we're viewed as the little people.
I failed my first inspection in San Francisco too. Ayye, I deserved it.
And I live in Burlingame. San Mateo county. That's where I do most of my work, and the nice thing about it is that when you say something costs $1200.00 you're not asked, don't you mean $800.00. You might think I'm kidding but occasionally someone might even say, don't you mean $1400.00.
